Massage Therapy

Melting Muscles

Melting Muscles is a massage approach developed by Patrick Moore, LMT. In this technique muscles are massaged in their shortened (contracted) positions, allowing the muscles to relax and lengthen themselves instead of the practitioner exerting pressure on the muscles to "make" them relax or lengthen. It is a philosophy that works with the body's own wisdom, resulting in a deeply effective massage and in a longer retention of the relaxed state. This technique can be applied to all massage situations and is especially appropriate for clients experiencing fibromyalgia and those whose bodies are taxed through chemotherapy and radiation. Swedish Massage

Swedish massage relieves tension and the effects of stress through a combination of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. Swedish massage promotes deep relaxation and improves circulation and range of motion.

Deep Tissue/Trigger Point Massage

Deep Tissue and Trigger Point massage releases chronic patterns of tension and pain in the body through firm, slow and varyingly deep strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas ("knots") in the muscle.

Muscle Release Technique (Myofascial Release)

Compiled by Howard Rontal, Hellerwork practitioner, the Muscle Release Technique works to soften and expand the connective tissue below the skin and surrounding the muscles. This technique helps to release muscles caught in chronic tight and pain patterns and results in fluidity and ease of movement. Please also refer to www.howardrontal.com.

Sports Massage

This includes specialized techniques to help prevent injuries, keep the athlete in prime condition and promote the healing of injuries. The field of Sports Massage also includes Pre-Event Massage (preparing an athlete for imminent competition) and Post-Event Massage (reducing muscle spasms and metabolic build up after an event).

Pregnancy Massage

Pre-natal and Peri-natal Massage is designed for the unique situation and needs of a pregnant or post-partum woman. This is a specific full body massage to nurture mother and baby and to alleviate the discomforts of pregnancy such as fatigue, low back pain and sciatica.
